If you’re staying with us at Little Trevothan Camping & Caravan Park, these are some of our absolute favourite coastal walks to enjoy during your holiday.

FOUR SPECTACULAR COASTAL WALKS TO TRY

1. Coverack to Terence Coventry Sculpture Park

  • Difficulty: Easy | Distance: Around 2 miles (return)
  • The Vibe: A relaxed, culture-filled stroll.

If you are looking for a gentle walk that doesn't take all day, this is a wonderful place to start.  Beginning right in Coverack, you'll follow quiet lanes and open countryside to the fascinating Terence Coventry Sculpture Park, where impressive sculptures sit naturally within the Cornish landscape.

The route is mostly gentle, making it ideal for families with older children or anyone wanting a leisurely morning or afternoon stroll. It’s also a lovely introduction to the peaceful countryside that surrounds Coverack.

2. Coverack to Black Head

  • Difficulty: Easy to Moderate | Distance: Around 4 miles (return)
  • The Vibe: Classic, postcard-perfect Cornish coastline

This walk offers everything people imagine when they picture Cornwall. Following the South West Coast Path east from Coverack, you’ll enjoy panoramic sea views, dramatic cliffs, and plenty of benches to stop and simply soak it all in.

Wildlife Tip: During spring and summer, the cliffs come alive with vibrant wildflowers, while Atlantic grey seals can often be spotted playing in the clear waters below.

While there are a few uneven sections, most reasonably fit walkers will find this route thoroughly comfortable.

3. Coverack to Kennack Sands

  • Difficulty: Moderate | Distance: Around 5 miles (one way)
  • The Vibe: Hidden coves and a rewarding beach finale.

This is one of our personal favourites on the Lizard Peninsula.  The route hugs the dramatic coastline towards the beautiful, sweeping sands of Kennack, passing hidden coves, rocky headlands, and open heathland along the way.

It’s a fantastic choice for families with older children who love to explore, or for anyone travelling with a high-energy dog. Once you arrive at Kennack Sands, there’s plenty of space to relax on the beach before making the return journey.

4. Lizard Point Circular Walk

  • Difficulty: Moderate | Distance: Around 4 miles
  • The Vibe: Standing at the edge of the UK!

No visit to the Lizard Peninsula feels complete without exploring Lizard Point—the southernmost point of mainland Britain. This circular walk brilliantly combines spectacular coastal scenery with fascinating local history.

Along the way, you’ll discover:

  • Dramatic, rugged cliffs
  • Views of the historic Lizard Lighthouse
  • Hidden, rocky coves
  • Excellent birdwatching opportunities.

Keep your eyes peeled for seals resting on the rocks below and, if you're lucky, dolphins offshire.

THE SOUTH WEST COAST PATH: RIGHT ON YOUR DOORSTEP

Perhaps Cornwall’s greatest attraction isn’t a single destination at all, but the path that connects them. The South West Coast Path stretches for hundreds of miles, but some of its finest, most dramatic sections run straight through the Lizard Peninsula.

Whether you want to walk for thirty minutes or several hours, you’ll enjoy some of Britain’s most spectacular scenery. The absolute beauty of staying in Coverack is that many of these walks begin just a short drive—or even a short stroll—from your accommodation.

🐾 WALKING WITH DOGS ON THE LIZARD PENINSULA

The coastline around Coverack is a paradise for dog owners. Many sections of the coastal paths are dog-friendly all year round, offering miles of spectacular walking with plenty of dog-friendly beaches and viewpoints along the way.

To keep everyone safe and happy, always remember to:

  • Keep dogs on a lead near livestock and exposed cliff edges.
  • Check seasonal restrictions for specific beaches before you set off.
  • Carry plenty of fresh water, particularly during the warmer summer months.
  • Follow the Countryside Code: Close all gates and take your rubbish home.
